The Salt Collection
A collection of photographic images that capture the ever-changing landscape of a Victorian salt lake.
Shaped by time, water and wind, I was amazed to experience and photograph this little corner of nature on my mid-afternoon travels.
An ephemeral lake, this area becomes a thriving water-bird sanctuary during winter and as dry as the desert during the summer.
At the time I discovered it, the water had just evaporated, leaving behind these incredible patches of damp salt and earthy shapes formed by exposure to the elements.
Look closely and you might even discover kangaroo tracks, weaving across the lake into the surrounding bush.
