A morning with mailboxes

DAY 1 OF 365 · 0.3% TO OVERNIGHT SUCCESS

Here’s a weird fact - every time I’ve driven along the backroads, I’ve spotted something usual. Not a cloud or a tree, but an oddly shaped mailbox. They often catch my eye when I least expect it - I’ll notice a perfectly respectable farm with well maintained fences and fields, then WHAM - a mailbox in the shape of a face with weird hair.

Often these mailboxes are repurposed - old steel or tin, some plastic containers thrown in. I love seeing them and thinking about the people who went out of the way to give ordinary things new life – then pop it out on public display.

This morning was no different. Cruising along the side streets, I spotted three unusually shaped mail receptacles.

I’d like to continue to collect images of mailboxes as I go - perhaps one day I’ll have enough to have a create a collection and have an exhibition.

A cow sculpture for a farm that unsurprisingly, had live cows.

A microwave with a second life.

Got a package delivered? Don’t worry, it’s in the dog-house.
