Biography

Heidi Fin is a photographer and storyteller based in Greater Shepparton, Australia.

Her work traces the lived realities of small-town life, revealing how identity is inseparable from the land and the relationships that hold communities together. Recently, she has turned to the intersections of memory, community and landscape - exploring how place shapes who we are, and how we, in turn, leave traces on the places we call home.

Working with both film and digital photography, she moves fluidly between documentary and fine art, capturing fleeting moments that show how everyday gestures and places carry deeper histories.

In The Weight of Water, Heidi investigates rivers as both ecological systems and vessels of cultural memory. Her photographs dwell on the human experience of waterways that sustain and endanger, and that are themselves increasingly vulnerable to change.

Beyond her exhibition work, Heidi and her partner, Cayla, create and sell nature and coastal prints and merchandise that celebrate the quiet beauty of Australia’s wild and regional landscapes. Together, they bring an eye for detail and a love of the natural world into homes across the country.

With over a decade of experience in marketing and communications, Heidi brings a storyteller’s intuition to both her creative and professional work - blending strategy with sincerity, and using image and narrative to deepen people’s connection to place, nature and each other.
