A Long Weekend in Victoria

This weekend was an extra long one, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to embark on an adventure to one of my favourite places, Brisbane Ranges National Park. The forest is located around an hour from Melbourne.

The area never ceases to enchant me, wild bush, scattered with wildlife and even a ghost town. While exploring the cemetery, I had the pleasure of meeting a friendly echidna, out for a morning wander. It happily posed for a few photographs before wandering off back into the forest.

We had a delightful picnic near the Steiglitz Courthouse, listening to the birds chatter before the heat of the day intensified. From a distant hill, a large male kangaroo watched us intensely from the trees.

The weekend was a hot one, and the threat of wildfires sat heavily on our shoulders for the time we were in the bush. We had a short walk down Deadman’s Loop before deciding to head home and come back another day.

The next morning, I jumped in the car and drove along the Esplanade in the Bellarine. It was expected to be another hot day and I was curious to see how many people would be out and about before the heat of the day. The coast was thriving!
